The Brief

Squires wanted to update the centre on their Chertsey site with an entirely new building and outdoor plant area. The finished product needed to be something that people could visit, find what they were looking for and be back in their garden in no time. The new structure also had to link to the 200 year old octagonal building which was to remain on site.

The Solution

Following a complete rebuild, Squires at Chertsey is a small but perfectly formed boutique garden centre. The only element that remained from the previous centre is the 200 year old octagonal lodge building, which now houses the cafe.

The new building has a glazed frontage, inviting customers through the door. Once inside customers will feel the benefit of the two automated ridge vents, keeping the temperature at a comfortable level in the retail area. The site benefits from a new outdoor plant area as well as the new building. There is a new canopy to the rear of the building, providing cover for outdoor shopping. Rear and side elevations have been clad in Western Red Cedar.
