The Brief

Ashtead Park needed to extend their existing retail space and provide a traditional feel to the entrance building. The new structure was due to adjoin the offices already on site – meaning the design and integration had to be seamless. The garden centre planned to stay open throughout the project which meant the delivery period needed to be safe and use the space efficiently.

The Solution

The finished product is a 585 sq m three span building. To retain a traditional feel, the entrance span of the building features toughened single glazing to the elevations and a polycarbonate roof.  Other retail areas are clad in insulated composite panels with natural light flooding through the new roof lights. The new building also features a striking clerestory roof with automated ridge vents to maintain a comfortable shopping environment.
