The Solution

Newspan were tasked with a 3,000 sq m curved enclosed retail structure for Squires. The end product is a fantastic example of a modern garden centre building which was air pressure tested and approved. We applied a fully bonded membrane roof to the enclosed retail areas and polycarbonate canopy to the outdoor plant area. The large curved spans feature hand crafted barge detailing and thermally broken double glazed curtain walling. Some elevations are partially covered in responsibly sourced Thermowood cladding to add contrast.

The canopy area is the same size and specification of steel as the enclosed retail area. By doing this we have added flexibility to the future of the building. If the client wishes to enclose the canopy area then it will be a simple job to add walls and extend the indoor floor space – without needing additional foundations.
