Glasshouse converted to retail for Lealans Garden Centre
Thursday, 15 September 2011
This can be a difficult time of year for those in charge of garden
centres. Whilst we may not have had the best summer weather, underlying
leaks, draughts and condensation problems in existing buildings can
resurface and present real challenges as autumn sets in. Newspan’s wide
range of cladding, glazing and roofing solutions makes cost-effective
refurbishment possible for almost any type of existing building or
glasshouse – providing your customers with a welcoming and well
maintained shopping environment all year round.
This year, Lealans Garden Centre was well ahead of the game and are now
moving into an existing glasshouse which has been extensively
refurbished as a retail building by Newspan. We stripped the existing
roof glazing from their 800 sq m four span building, and replaced it
with an insulated composite profile sheet, available in a choice of
exterior colours and including an insurance approved fire protection PIR
core. Two runs of polycarbonate clad ridge ventilators – including an
automatically controlled temperature controller with a rain sensor
override – were installed, in addition to a metre wide full length ridge
to gutter polycarbonate insulated roof lights which cover 20% of the
total roof area. A double automatic door with glazed sidelights has
been fitted within the front gables, along with a manual double steel
security door at the rear.
The stunning results have been delivered extremely cost effectively in a
build programme of just five weeks. Customers can look forward to a
bright, warm and comfortable shopping experience – with Lealans
benefitting from a more welcoming retail environment, alongside lower
heating costs and reduced risk of stock damage or spoiling – during this
winter and well beyond.
